Independent Educational Evaluations
Comprehensive psychoeducational assessments conducted by Licensed Educational Psychologists. We bring both school district and private practice experience to every evaluation.
What Is an Independent Educational Evaluation?
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a qualified professional outside of the school district. Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), parents have the right to request an IEE when they disagree with the school district’s evaluation of their child. In many cases, the school district is required to fund the IEE at public expense.
An IEE provides an objective, thorough examination of your child’s cognitive abilities, academic skills, processing strengths and weaknesses, and social-emotional functioning. The goal is to develop a clear and complete picture of how your child learns, so that the right supports can be put in place.
When You Might Need an IEE
Families pursue an Independent Educational Evaluation for a number of reasons. You may want to consider an IEE if:
You disagree with the school district’s assessment findings or believe the evaluation was incomplete. Your child was found ineligible for special education services, but you still have concerns about their learning. Your child has an IEP or 504 Plan, but the current supports do not seem to be working. You want a second opinion from a Licensed Educational Psychologist with experience in both school-based and clinical assessment. Your child’s needs have changed and you believe a more thorough evaluation is warranted.
Our IEE Process
We have designed our evaluation process to be thorough, transparent, and supportive for families at every step.
Free Consultation
We begin with a phone consultation to understand your concerns, review any prior evaluations, and determine whether an IEE is the right path forward.
Comprehensive Assessment
Our evaluations include a comprehensive battery of standardized measures covering cognitive functioning, academic achievement, processing skills, and social-emotional development. We select instruments based on the specific referral questions and your child’s unique profile.
Detailed Report
You will receive a comprehensive written report with clear explanations of findings, diagnostic impressions, and specific, actionable recommendations designed to translate directly into IEP goals and classroom accommodations.
IEP Meeting Support
We attend the IEP meeting with you to present our findings, answer questions from the team, and advocate for the services your child needs. Our evaluators understand the IEP process from the inside, having worked as school psychologists themselves.
Why Choose Triad for Your IEE
Triad Psychoeducational Services was founded by Licensed Educational Psychologists who have worked extensively within school districts. That experience shapes everything we do. Here is what sets us apart:
Three Licensed Educational Psychologists on Staff
Our team includes Dr. Michael Salce (Ed.D., LEP), Suvin Varghese (Ed.S., LEP), and Jeremy Harrison (Ed.S., LEP). Each evaluator holds a Pupil Personnel Services credential and has worked as a school psychologist in Southern California districts.
Dual Perspective
Because our evaluators have sat on both sides of the IEP table, we understand how school teams interpret data and make eligibility decisions. Our reports are written to be both clinically sound and practically useful within the school setting.
Comprehensive Assessment Battery
We use a wide range of validated, evidence-based instruments to assess cognitive ability, academic achievement, executive functioning, language processing, visual-motor integration, and social-emotional well-being. Our approach is guided by best practices in school psychology and psychoeducational assessment.
Actionable Recommendations
Every report includes specific, measurable recommendations that translate directly into IEP goals, classroom accommodations, and intervention strategies. We do not write generic suggestions. Our recommendations are tailored to your child and designed to be implemented immediately.
Serving Southern California Families
Based in Chino Hills, CA, we serve families throughout the Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, Orange County, and surrounding areas. Dr. Salce also serves as Department Chair of School Psychology at Azusa Pacific University, reflecting our commitment to advancing the field.
